This is one of the largest Giant Jenga games that I have ever seen and most likely hand made for the show. At Tosso.com we offer the Giant Tumble Tower game that is very similar to this game and measures about 3 feet high at the begining of play and can reach heights of almost 5 feet at it's peak. If you want to see the video clip click read more. I embeded the video on the next page.

4th of July Outdoor Games that you have never heard of.

When you think of the 4th of July you think America, fireworks, barbeques and of course, entertainment. Outdoor games can add some friendly rivalry to any backyard gathering giving you and your guests hours of backyard fun. We have all heard of the classic games like Bocce Ball , horseshoes and Cornhole, but what about the games that you have never heard of?

<img style="margin: 24px; float: right;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/4th-of-july-games.jpg"}}" alt="4th of July Games" width="300" height="775" />Numbered Skittles a.k.a Molkky

Numbered Skittles or Mokkly as the Finnish call it is relatively new to the outdoor games world but the simple tossing game that combines a little luck and a lot of skill is becoming more and more popular. The game set comes with one throwing pin, 12 wooden skittles numbered 1 through 12. You simply setup the numbered skittles and start tossing the throwing pin at them. Each player(s) from opposing teams alternate throwing and earn points depending on which pins they knock down. If you knock over more than 1 skittle, each skittle down counts as 1 point. If you only knock over 1 skittle, then you get the points value on that downed skittle. The team who earns exactly 50 points first is the winner however; if you go over you receive a penalty that reduces your score back to 25 points! This Numbered Skittles game is made in the USA too!

Rollors

Rollors is a perfect game for the indecisive! The creator of this outdoor game took some of the best aspects from Bocce Ball, Horseshoes and Lawn Bowling… so if you can`t decide, Rollors is the ideal outdoor game. The object of Rollors is to get your team`s wooden disk closest to the goal. The disk that is closest to the goal gets the points value on that disk. The first team to get to 21 points is the winner, but once your team reaches 21 don`t start celebrating just yet… you have to win by at least a two points. This game was invented by a Military Veteran.

Yard Dice

Yard Dice gives you and your guests the freedom to play all of your favorite dice games on a much larger scale. With the large wooden dice you can entertain your friends for hours. Dice games include Greedy, Whamee, 21 Aces, Dudo and much more. You can even bring Vegas outdoors with Street Craps. These wooden yard dice are made right here in the USA.

Lighted Bocce Ball Set

If you think your 4th of July party is going to go all night long, then plan ahead with this cool new Lighted Bocce Ball set. These are official 107mm size translucent plastic bocce balls that have LED lights inside. These things put off a serious glow and will get hours of play after the sun goes down. Simply press a small water resistant button to activate the LED Light, press it again and your bocce balls will flash, press it a third time and you can turn them off. This is a very unique product that is sure to draw a crowd at sunset.

The 4th of July is a time of fun and celebration! So this year surprise your family and friends with some of these unheard of outdoor games which are sure to keep the party going all night long!

How to Play Washers

<img style="float: right; margin: 8px;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/washers-rules.jpg"}}" alt="How to play washers" width="400" height="400" />

The Washers Game is a classic portable game that is very fun and challenging to play. It is said that this classic outdoor game got its start by people throwing metal washers or coins into cans. The goal of Washers is to get small metal washers into or near a hole in a Washer box.

Equipment for Washers

Washer Boxes: Washer Boxes are typically 15 inch x 15 inch with a 4.5” hole in the center.

Washers: Washers are typically about 2 ½ inches on the outside with a 1” hole in the center.

Rules of the Game

Although there are many different variants of the game the general rules are as follows:

Washers is a 2-4 player game and can be played individual or in teams of two. The game is divided into rounds where players or teams will alternating pitching washers, attempting to get the washer into the hole or into the washer box.

To begin, place each of the Washer Boxes on opposite ends of the court or yard ( a regulation court is not needed for casual play). Flip a coin to determine which player or team throws first. Alternate the pitching of your washers with the other player or teams. It is important to remember that for all throws, one foot must stay behind the front of the box that you are throwing from.

Once all players or teams washers have been thrown that round is over and teams move to the opposite washer boxes, tally up the points and begin a new round with the other players on each team throwing the washers. Games usually go to 21 points, but you can decide the details.

Scoring

Scoring in washers is simple! A team earns one point if a washer lands inside the box. Three points are earned if a washer is inside the cup. Points cancel out so if you both land in the cup no points are scores.

Only one team or player can score in any given round

Although this outdoor game seems simple the small washers can make it much harder than it looks giving you and your teammates a fun challenge!

Ladder Ball Rules - How to play Ladder Golf

<img style="margin: 8px; float: right;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/ladder-golf-rules.jpg"}}" alt="Ladder Golf Rules" width="400" height="400" />The goal of Ladder Golf is simple; to have fun, but before you start to play an official game of Ladder Golf, it is important to know the rules! If you're the type of person that doesn't like to read rules, then just stick with me for a couple more lines. Space the game ladders about 15 feet apart and start tossing your bolas. Each player tosses all 3 bolas, then the next player tosses all 3 bolas. The first one to 21 without going over is the winner! The top rung is worth 3 points, middle is 2 and bottom rung i 1 point. See I told you it was simple and keep reading for all the details.

To understand Ladder Golf it is important to know the “lingo” associated with the game.

Bolas:

Bolas just might be the most important piece of the game; two golf balls connected with a piece of nylon rope make up one bola.

Game Ladder:

The game ladder is the contraption that contains three steps or rungs.

Steps or Rungs:

The three polls that make up the ladder are called “steps” or “rungs.” The top rung, middle and bottom rung.

Toss Line:

Players must toss the bolas from a line 15 feet away from the ladder. We don`t expect backyard players to measure out 15 feet exactly so 5 paces from the ladder works just as well!

Ladder Ball Rules:

The game of Ladder Golf is played in rounds and typically a coin toss will determine which player goes first. Each player has three bolas and must throw all three of their bolas before another player can go. The goal is get the bolas to catch on one of the rungs, the top rung is worth three points, second is worth two and the bottom rung in worth one point. There is no set way to throw a bola, therefore a player may toss anyway he/she likes and can even bounce a bola on the ground.

The player with the most points at the end of the round gets to throw first the next round. After a round is played, points are totaled. Whichever bolas are still hanging are awarded points. It is okay, encouraged even, to knock the bolas of other players off the rungs; in that case, those bolas do not count as points. The first player to get to 21 points exactly is the winner. If a player goes over 21 points, the points they earned during that round do not count.

In the Event of a Tie in Ladder Ball

In the event of a tie, each player with 21 points will play as many overtime rounds until one player gains two points at the end of the round. The two point rule only applies in overtime rounds.

Play in Teams

Ladder Golf can be played with four players with each player alternating turns each round. Extra bolas and ladders can also be purchased. With two ladders, the same rules apply yet two players from opposing teams would be on each side. Each side would toss bolas and the other side would then toss back.

Ladder Ball Etiquette

Unlike the actual game of Golf, the gentleman`s game, Ladder Golf encourages remarks, sounds and/or movements in order to distract your opponent; however, touching a player or their bolas is against the rules.

No player is allowed to walk to the ladder before the completion of each round.

Now that you understand the terminology, etiquette and guidelines you are ready to play Ladder Golf at your barbeques, tailgates, beach days and family fun events. Enjoy!

Top 5 Outdoor Games for a Backyard BBQ

A backyard barbeque is one of the simplest ways to have fun; great friends, good food, drinks and of course, entertainment. For the entertainment you have a ton of options but there are five specific outdoor games that will guarantee you and your guests will have a good time; your friends may never want to leave! Bocce Ball, Cornhole, Ladder golf, Rollers, and Washers are all simple, entertaining outdoor games that provide relaxing fun on a beautiful day.

<img style="margin-top: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px; float: right;" title="Top 5 outdoor games" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/top-5-outdoor-games.jpg"}}" alt="Top 5 outdoor games" />

Bocce Ball

Bocce Ball is actually a very old sport which dates back to the Roman Empire but has evolved into its present form in Italy. Bocce ball can be played in many different ways from tournament play to casual play or as some people call it American or Open Bocce Ball. Most people play this casual style of play where the rules are very simple and you don't need any special bocce ball court. You simply toss the small "Jack" or "Pallino" out and then players toss or roll the bocce balls towards the pallino. Points are scored by being the closest to the Pallino. The beauty of Bocce Ball is that it can be played on almost any open surface like grass, dirt and it's very fun on beach sand.

Horseshoes

Horseshoes is a favorite among many outdoor game players and is perfect for a backyard party because depending on how many guests, this game can be played individually or in teams. There are a few rules but the game is relatively simple; toss the horseshoes onto the stake for 3 points, or in the pit closest to the stake for 1 point. Whoever gets to 21 points first is the winner! The only draw back to horseshoes is that you need a horseshoe pit in your backyard. Once you have the horseshoe pit you might just host all the parties all summer long.

Ladder Golf

Ladder Golf is a relatively new game new to the outdoor sports world but has gained much popularity over the last decade. It's unique design and simple rules make it a favorite amongst backyard olypians. Simply spae the game ladders apart and start tossing your bolas. Score 3 points for the top rung, 2 for the missle and 1 point for the bottom run. Ladder Golf is surprisingly easy to play and similar to Cornhole in that it can be played on any surface, but just like in black jack you try to hit 21 exactly, don`t go over 21 or your busted!

Rollors

When you combine Bocce Ball, Horseshoes and Lawn Bowling, you get Rollors! Rollers was invented by a U.S. soldier while he was serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Just space the goals apart and start rolling your disks. The disk that that land the closest to the goals are awarded the point value that is facing up. First to 21 is the winner. It's unique design takes some of the most fun elements from other games and combines it into a fun and challenging game that is perfect to play on your fresh cut lawn this summer.

Washers

The Washers Game is like Horseshoes with a twist! You don't need permanet horseshoe pits to play. Just space apart the washer boxes and starting pitching your washers. Land it in the cup for 3 points and get 1 point for landing in the box. It's very portable so you can take it anywhere and is sure to be a hit in backyard BBQ's all over the Country this year.

Don't just make your guests sit around and wait for the food to come off the grill. Get them out into the backyard playing some classic outdoor games. Your guests will remember what they did at your backyard barbeque just as much as they will remember what they ate.

Outdoor Games Made in the USA

<img style="float: right; margin: 8px;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/made-in-usa-sq-400.jpg"}}" alt="Games made in the USA" />We have searched the globe in order to find the highest quality of outdoor games and have discovered that it is becoming increasingly harder to find these high-end games that are still made in the USA, but we were lucky enough to find a few! Tosso currently offers Horseshoes, Bocce Ball sets and Cornhole Games that are all manufactured in the U.S.

Sometimes the company that you buy things from is as important as the products that you buy. The company that we buy Horseshoes and Bocce Ball from, for instance, is a 3rd generation family owned company; the last remaining manufacturer of pitching horseshoes made in the USA.

The company who manufactures our Cornhole games produces ACA regulation tournament grade boards and prides themselves on the quality of the materials they use to build their outdoor game sets.

It's a big deal when you find high quality products at a good price and an even bigger deal when you find high quality, USA Made products at a good price. We are always looking for these USA made items so if you know of any that would be a good fit for Tosso, please email us and let us know!

The age of the disposable products.

<img style="float: right; margin: 8px;" src="{{media url="wysiwyg/rusty-horseshoe-sq.jpg"}}" alt="Rusty Horseshoe Game" width="400" height="400" />

When you buy almost anything these days, you are faced with a choice. Do I buy the high quality product that I know will last ten times longer or do I buy the cheapest one to get me through the season? This is the case with almost anything from clothing to patio furniture and especially noticeable in the sports & outdoor game markets.

I don't think the quality of everything has gone down, It is just more difficult to find those top quality, higher end "widgets" now. Most “big name” national stores and websites will carry widgets in the lower price and lower quality range, whereas ten years ago the same type of store might carry a low, a mid and a high end widget and let the customer make the choice.

The easiest way to lower the price is to cut corners and reduce the overall quality.
The materials used in products has a drastic effect on the price and longevity of that item. If a product has stainless steel in it and you switch to regular steel or even plastics, sure the price will go down, as does the overall quality. You may not even notice until you start to see the rust or the product breaks in a couple months.

We started Tosso because we think that people still want quality made products made by quality companies.
Quality products will ultimately last longer and can even save you money in the long run without the constant need to pay for replacements and/or repairs.

In order to provide our customers with the best possible products we cut through the clutter and hand select each and every item we sell by researching and testing each game before we list it on our site.
By purchasing and warehousing every game that we sell, we can not only consolidate shipping costs but ensure a good shopping experience for our buyers.

At Tosso we are starting with outdoor games and hopefully we will move quickly into other industries to discover some hidden, high quality products for you to enjoy. Let us know what you think about the ever expanding selection and feel free to recommend some products to us.
